I have tried to write this post 3 times and each time I stop because of the tears that fill my eyes and eventually slowly fall down my face making it hard to see the screen! Those tears are not due to sadness but because of joy, happiness and love that I have for my mother. She is definitely a jewel! Her love is limitless and felt by everyone that knows her. Her wisdom and guidance is extended to all that is willing to listen. I am so proud to call her my mother!
Last week my mom came to visit and of course I had to get a few pictures of her. She resisted at first, but then I had to put the guilt trip on her! She finally caved in, especially when I told I wanted to take pictures of her and Tre together…grandson and grandmother bonding. I knew that would get her…anything involving the grandkids and she’s all in!
To see the two of them interacting and being silly was just as much a pleasure and the pictures themselves. Tre truly loves and confides in his grandmother. They are always laughing about something he said or a text she sent him!
These pictures melt my heart…
Just a few more pictures…

I probably ask her once a month, maybe even more often than that and the answer is always the same… not today, let’s do it another day, I don’t like my hair, take Tre, I’m not photogenic, excuses, excuses, excuses which all equal NO!
But those excuses didn’t stop me from asking. I asked again last weekend and she said, YES! Finally I was able to get my daughter in front of my camera. Persistence does pay off…YES!!!
Here’s Beth…oh how I love her! She is so beautiful inside and out!
I found these books under a porch and had to use them in our pictures!

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Spencer Farm to pick strawberries. Nicholas loves to pick strawberries but more importantly he loves to eat them. He has a great system… pick one, eat 2, pick one, eat 3! His cousin Erin went with us and she picked up on his routine very quickly too!

Are you ready for some football!!! Who said there was a lock out? The players, owners and coaches for Sports 101 have reached an agreement and its football as usual!
After rain for most of the last week, we thought the games would be postponed, but wet, soggy, muddy grounds couldn’t stop these players from getting out on the field and playing football. The stands(read that as grass on the sideline) were packed with exciting parents, siblings and grandparents of the players. The boys and girls looked nervous, but once the whistle blew, the nerves went out the window and it was flag football as we know it…kids running(chasing) after each other and parents and coaches yelling, “get the flag, get the flag”.
Here are a few pictures from Week 1 – Green Bay Packers vs New Orleans Saints:

Not all the players were happy…

I have been really enjoying shooting film. It’s so old school, so retro, so has been. AND, I like that! It is worth repeating…the tones in film is unmatched.
Here are a couple more pictures! These were all shot with my “new” Contax 645 film camera. I used Kodak’s lastest film, Portra 400.

Well, I had big hopes for this blog post. I had hopes that this post would grace you with beautiful images of NIcholas taken with my Pentax K1000. But, as life would have it, that’s not the case. It’s not because I didn’t have time. It’s not because NIcholas wouldn’t cooperate, (that may have a little to do with it!!). It’s not because I didn’t have the equipment. No, none of those things prevented me from my vision. The truth of the matter is I went out on Sunday all ready to get some pictures, but as I have learned photography is a journey. It just doesn’t happen over night. It’s trail and error. And shooting with a film camera is so different then shooting with my digital camera. Honestly, I bombed! There was only a couple, a few, okay two pictures that turned out. Well, turned out a little as I anticipated. But that’s okay. I am going to pick up my camera next week and keep trying. This will NOT set me back. I WILL press on.

Melvin always says it is hard buying me a gift, even though I give him a list of ideas! Last Christmas that wasn’t the case. He asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told him. Nothing! But, being Melvin he would not take that for an answer. He always feels as though he has to get me something. He doesn’t. Nevertheless, I gave him a list of about 50 things…j/k, sorta of!! I told him if he must buy me a gift, then I wanted a vintage camera. I had plans to put a shelf in my office and place vintage cameras on it!
On Christmas morning as everyone is opening presents, I opened mine and found that I got a camera. A vintage camera! But, not the vintage camera I was expecting. Again, I was going to place these cameras I was collecting on a shelf in my office. The camera I received was a Pentax K1000 35mm film camera. Okay! So, now what! Well, at that point I decided I was going to learn to shoot with this camera.
The first roll was terrible. I don’t think I got one shot in focus, or the picture was way underexposed. But I didn’t stop there. I got another roll of film and took Tre as my model! I still need more practice, but this was better than the first. I forgot how much I loved the color you get with film…so much different from digital! Another thing I miss with film is the grain. You know, just like wrinkles are to linen, grain is to film. It character!
Here are a few pictures from Tre’s session!
