Are you ready for some football!!! Who said there was a lock out? The players, owners and coaches for Sports 101 have reached an agreement and its football as usual!

After rain for most of the last week, we thought the games would be postponed, but wet, soggy, muddy grounds couldn’t stop these players from getting out on the field and playing football. The stands(read that as grass on the sideline) were packed with exciting parents, siblings and grandparents of the players. The boys and girls looked nervous, but once the whistle blew, the nerves went out the window and it was flag football as we know it…kids running(chasing) after each other and parents and coaches yelling, “get the flag, get the flag”.

Here are a few pictures from Week 1 – Green Bay Packers vs New Orleans Saints:

Not all the players were happy…

It was a Sunday afternoon and the weather was Beautiful! It was a great day for a photo session and I had to great person to fill that spot! Pun as he is known by his family and friends was quite, reserved and serious. I needed to be on my A game to get some genuine smiles from Pun because he seemed so serious. Who would have thought it would take doing the funky chicken to get those smiles/laughs!

Check out Mr. Serious…

Slowly, I was able to get a little smile from him…

I knew it would not take long…

And finally he is laughing with me…or At me!

Repeat customers are the BEST! I absolutely love to have repeat sessions. We literally pick up from where we left off. This was the case with my session last weekend. I got a chance to spend some time with the “S” family, again! The last time I took pictures of this family, little Miss Nautica was very shy and her baby brother wasn’t born yet. Nautica didn’t want anything to do with my camera and held on to her mommy and daddy for dear life. This year…progress has been made. Nautica actually let me hold her, but not for long. She still isn’t sure about my camera!
I’m believing that next year, I will at least get a couple of smiles from her. As for the newest addition, Ray Ray, he isn’t so sure either, but I did manage to get a smile from him.

Here are 2 pictures for now… I’ll have the rest of your gallery soon!

Where does the time go? What happen to the days when he was dependent on everyone to get things for him? What happened to the time when he could barely sit up by himself? What happened to the time when he could barely say Nana or Pawpaw! What happened to the days when he was inch worming on the floor to get around? What happened to the days when he loved to be read too? What happened to our little baby?

I can hardly believe that Nicholas is 4 years old! He no longer wants you to do anything for him. He is Mr. Independent now! He can do everything by himself!

He no longer require pillows around him just in case he leaned to far to the left or too far to the right. Now, he will only sit still for a short period of time. He is too busy to sit down. There is just too many things for him to get into!

Words, words, words…non-stop! He always has something to say. Sometimes, he is telling his Pawpaw, “I’m the real Pawpaw Smith”! Or, he is teasing Tre! Most of the time, he is coming to sweet talk his Nana into giving him extra fruit roll-ups, more milk, or another banana!

The days of barely getting around has now turned into running, jumping, skipping, and diving!

Mr. Independent now thinks he can read. So sometimes, it is him reading to us instead of us reading to him! I guess that makes sense! We have only read each book a 1000 times to him!!!

Where does the time go…what happened to our baby! As much as I would love to have him stay small, I also enjoy watching him explore and take on life’s new challenges! I just wish it wouldn’t happen so quickly!

Happy Birthday Nicholas!

What kid would not want to take a trip to the North Pole!! On Sunday, Nicholas and several other kids, dressed in their pajamas got to do just that! We rode the Polar Express train to the North Pole to see Santa Claus!

Filled with anticipation and very little patience, Nicholas could hardly wait to get to the North Pole. The train could not go fast enough for him. Prior to reaching our destination, we were treated with cookies and hot chocolate and the story the Polar Express. The conductor also took time with each kid as he punched holes in their ticket. He punched the letter “N” in Nicholas’ ticket! That was all good, but still he wanted to know when we would get to the North Pole! AND when would he get to see Santa Claus!

Finally, the conductor announced, Boys and Girls we will be arriving at the North Pole in about 3 minutes. All you could here was the excitement in the kids voices. CHATTER, LAUGHTER, AND SCREAMING! A few minutes later, the conductor interrupted the conversations of those on the train again…BOYS and GIRLS WE MADE IT. WE MADE IT TO THE NORTH POLE! As the kids looked out the windows, they saw lights shining brightly on the house and signs and even reindeers! In order for the kids to see Santa, they had to sing, SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN. Kids and parent alike sung at the top of their voices, ….Santa Claus is com-ing to tooowwwwnnnn! Slowly the front door of the house opened and out came Santa Claus!

Nicholas’ eyes were filled with amazement as he stared out at the window of the train at Santa. MOMMIE, NANA he screamed…then silence! He just couldn’t believe it! He couldn’t believe he was at the North Pole and Santa was there also!

For a brief moment, Santa disappeared but only to appear again on the train! HELLO EVERYBODY, he shouted! Santa sat with every kid on the train to make sure he listened carefully to them name all the things they wanted for Christmas. AND, just like in the book the Polar Express, he gave each kid a BELL and asked them if they BELIEVED!

Santa reached our seat and sat down right beside Nicholas and Beth. So Nicholas, what do you want for Christmas, he asked. Nicholas said, very loudly, BUZZ LIGHT YEAR and WOODY TOO! He had practiced saying that several times! Santa made sure to take note and he gave Nicholas a bell and asked him if he believed. Nicholas said, I BELIEVE!

Nicholas hasn’t stopped talking about his trip and neither can I. To see the excitement and amazement in his eyes was worth it all!

Here are some pictures from our trip!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jalen and his Mom on Sunday for a mini photo session! I was excited to have another chance to get Jalen in front of my camera! He was only 11 months when we had our 1st session. Now, he is almost 2.5!!

Jalen was quite the trooper! It was cold outside but that didn’t stop him from running, jumping, dancing, rolling down the hill, singing and giving me BIG SMILES!

Here are a few pictures from my session with Jalen!

Thanks Stacy and Jalen…Enjoy!

It’s funny how we look high and low for things when sometimes what we are looking for is right under our noses…in our backyards! I am always scouting for new locations to take my clients for their photo session. Whenever Melvin and I are going places, I can barely hold a conversation, because I am always looking around at the light or for little alleys and small sections of land that would make a great place for a session.

The other day, my daughter and I were headed to one of my favorite places to take pictures of Nicholas. As she was driving, I again was looking at the light and looking around scouting out session locations. We passed an open field that had beautiful light…TURN AROUND…HURRY TURN AROUND, as though the land would disappear if we didn’t hurry and get there! She had no clue what I was doing or where I was taking her, but I was thrilled!!! This little piece of land was not even a block from my house… and to think I have driven MILES scouting out locations!!!

Here are a few pictures of Nicholas my new favorite session location…

It’s been over a year since we met up in Virginia! Her hair was curly and she was a couple of inches shorter. This time we met up in Tennessee and her hair is now straighten and boy has she gotten taller! But, some things never change. She is still as sweet and she was the last time I saw her, she still is as gorgeous as before, she still is as smart as she was before (I think smarter), and she is still a lot of fun to hang out with!

McKenzie and I were scheduled to have our photo shoot on Saturday evening, but hanging out with other family members took longer than expected, so we rescheduled for Sunday morning. Bright and Early Sunday morning! The alarm rang at 6:30am and she reluctantly rolled out of bed! After getting dressed, we ventured around the hotel parking lot for a place to take pictures!

Here are some of the images from our session!!!
