One of Nicholas’ favorite songs is Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. He would request to hear that song over and over and over and over again! When we sing the song to him, he would just laugh! Or was he laughing at our singing…hmmm!
Here are a few pictures from our No More Jumping on the Bed session…

If I had my choice, Nicholas would be a pumpkin every year for Halloween. That’s just what he is to me, my Pumpkin Pie! But, he’s not having no parts of dressing like a pumpkin. After all, he’s tough, he’s mean, he’s a protector! This year Raphael (aka Nicholas) is ready to take on anyone that crosses his path. He will jump, kick, and climb to find the bad guys. He’s not afraid… he has TURTLE POWER!

3 times the giggles, 3 times the smiles, 3 times the CUTENESS! I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with three 3 little girls! AND, it doesn’t get much better than that! I LOVE MY JOB!!

Little Miss A was so reserved at the beginning of her shoot. Smiles would have cost me more than the price of all the toys in a toy store. But as I explained to her mom, the difference between a custom photographer and your big box photography stores is that I will take the time to work with each child. I will take the time to make the experience a great one. An experience where a child will not think they are at a photo session but at a fun, play session.
It wasn’t too long into the photo session that I had little Miss A singing, laughing, running and taking giving me tons of smiles!!! Here are some pictures from her session to prove it!!

I love it when Melvin and I are going somewhere and he takes his place in the driver’s seat and I take mine on the passenger side. I’m usually engaged in either talking on the phone, looking through a magazine, finishing the last pages of a good book I am reading, or on my iPad so I can’t drive! Everything usually goes smoothly until I look up and see the brake lights from the vehicle in front of us and we are still doing 70 mph and I yell SSTOOOOPP, SSLOOOOOW DOWN and pushing the brakes on the passenger’s side! What- your car doesn’t have brakes on the passenger side?!
The other day we took NIcholas out to play on the BIG hill and of course I took my camera! I had a plan to let him play and I would slow down and capture the emotion of him being a little boy playing! I placed him where I knew the lighting was good and just watched him play. He found two rocks and started playing with them. Turning them into rockets and missiles and weapons! I started shooting and captured some cute pictures but not the moment I was anticipating. Then I reminded myself that my goal was to slow down and WAIT for the moment to happen! The minute I did this, I saw this moment….
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PICTURE!

I love it when other photographers show their before pictures then the edited pictures. It gives you a chance to really see how they got to the finished product. So, I thought I would give you a glimpse of how I process my pictures!
Disclaimer: I am by no way suggesting the way I process is the only way or the correct way! It’s just what works for me!
I use 2 editing programs to edit my pictures – LIghtroom 3 and Photoshop CS4
In Lightroom –
I adjust the white balance
Increase the fill light
Use the adjustment brush on selective exposure adjustments
In Photoshop –
I ran Boutwell Totally Rad Action, Magic Glasses reduce opacity to 20%
Tons of dodging and burning
Hue/Saturation adjustment – reduce opacity to 35%
USM – reduce opacity to 10%
Crop
Save
Here is another example using the same steps as listed above, with the exception of cropping!

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Spencer Farm to pick strawberries. Nicholas loves to pick strawberries but more importantly he loves to eat them. He has a great system… pick one, eat 2, pick one, eat 3! His cousin Erin went with us and she picked up on his routine very quickly too!

Are you ready for some football!!! Who said there was a lock out? The players, owners and coaches for Sports 101 have reached an agreement and its football as usual!
After rain for most of the last week, we thought the games would be postponed, but wet, soggy, muddy grounds couldn’t stop these players from getting out on the field and playing football. The stands(read that as grass on the sideline) were packed with exciting parents, siblings and grandparents of the players. The boys and girls looked nervous, but once the whistle blew, the nerves went out the window and it was flag football as we know it…kids running(chasing) after each other and parents and coaches yelling, “get the flag, get the flag”.
Here are a few pictures from Week 1 – Green Bay Packers vs New Orleans Saints:

Not all the players were happy…

It was a Sunday afternoon and the weather was Beautiful! It was a great day for a photo session and I had to great person to fill that spot! Pun as he is known by his family and friends was quite, reserved and serious. I needed to be on my A game to get some genuine smiles from Pun because he seemed so serious. Who would have thought it would take doing the funky chicken to get those smiles/laughs!
Slowly, I was able to get a little smile from him…

I knew it would not take long…

And finally he is laughing with me…or At me!

Repeat customers are the BEST! I absolutely love to have repeat sessions. We literally pick up from where we left off. This was the case with my session last weekend. I got a chance to spend some time with the “S” family, again! The last time I took pictures of this family, little Miss Nautica was very shy and her baby brother wasn’t born yet. Nautica didn’t want anything to do with my camera and held on to her mommy and daddy for dear life. This year…progress has been made. Nautica actually let me hold her, but not for long. She still isn’t sure about my camera!
I’m believing that next year, I will at least get a couple of smiles from her. As for the newest addition, Ray Ray, he isn’t so sure either, but I did manage to get a smile from him.
Here are 2 pictures for now… I’ll have the rest of your gallery soon!
